We Interrupt Regularly Scheduled Programming....

Our family had a wonderful trip to the mountains of VA to do some skiing, tubing, indoor water park fun, etc. this past weekend. Somewhere amidst the adventure and fun, our littlest one has gotten the flu and has been quite ill. He is having moments of perkiness so I believe he is on the mend, but my normal "Marital Moment Monday" is going to have to be postponed.

Friday night when our littlest one was ill over and over (and over...) I literally had to lift up his little face and help him to keep his head up so he could "spit into the bucket" (as he called it.) He was so completely exhausted that he would fall asleep almost instantly after being ill. It was adorably pathetic and in the midst of it all I felt such a moment of tenderness with my heavenly father. Psalm 3:3-4 came to mind:

"But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah."

In these tender moments as a parent, it always hits me in such a fresh way that He loves us even more than we can love our own children. I am praising Him today for being the lifter of my head, for hearing my cries, and for bringing me peace.

May we all rest sweetly with the faith of a child in our Father's love and care.

One of my memories, even into adulthood is of my grandma holding my head when I puked. Seriously. Sounds weird, and I often told her to get away--embarrassed by the stink or whatever, but she never did. Her tenderness and understanding that one's head gets really heavy when doing all that touches me to this day.

I hope your little one feels better soon, and I'm very glad that your fam got some r and r.

My mom used to let us sleep on the couch, covered with her big blue fuzzy robe, and a white plastic trash can next to us for "getting sick". We would lay on the couch and she would bring us drinks and cold wash clothes and so on. The one thing that always (even up into my adult years) made me feel better, even when I just knew I was dying, was my mom saying "I wish I could make you feel better sugar". Just her saying it was enough to help.

I too forget just how much God loves us and I treasure those little flashes of the "more" that we don't understand.

Hope your little sweetie feels all better fast.

I am so thankful for the times that the Lord has held my head & for the times that he has allowed me to rest peacefully!!
Sure pray that the little one gets to feeling better soon. :)

Poor baby! I pray that the rest of you don't get it too! I'm sure he was glad to have his Momma there to help him feel all better! We moms sure do all we can, anyway! Praise God that He is in control and watches over us!!

Glad to hear the little one is on the mend. Our youngest was so sick like that toward late fall last year and it went on for 36 hours and I also was helping him hold his head and then watching him fall back to sleep instantly. It's a great time to speak to little ones about miracles then when they are feeling better. Have a great day! Wonder if you guys have snow? We have pretty sun shine...just so cold again!

Oh man, I hope your little one feels better. That's no fun at all. Is everybody else feeling okay? The times when your kids are sick are some of the greatest opportunities to minister to them though.
